With sheer cliffs, the mountain has provided natural shelter for ages and was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 2000. The trek to reach it is challenging, but rewarding!

In the sanctuary, flora and fauna create lasting memories. You may spot leopards, gibbons, wild boars, and deer, with the sounds of nature filling the air.

As day turns to night, the sanctuary comes alive with nocturnal creatures waiting to be cherished.

A sanctuary steeped in legend

The Khawnglung Mountain near Aizawl was once home to a village that witnessed feuds among the Sailo chiefs in the 19th century.

Intertwined with this is the legend of Chalkunga, who risked everything to save his beloved Thanghniangi, but the river took her away.
